Council Track:Demilitarization and a Peace Economy
Session Title:How can we value things our present economy is ignoring? How can we incorporate them into our economic system?
Session Convener:Geoff Chesshire
First step is defining what values are. Next, defining what values are important to us.
Values:
- Community
- Social networks
- Connection with earth
- Helping others
- Spiritual values
- Gratitude
- Kindness
- Freedom
Best practices or lessons learned from our previous experiences on this topic and our conversation here:
Reinstituting our core values through education and consultation. Replacing the current money driven values. Currently, there seems to be a trend of core values being exploited for economic gain.
New alliances formed between group members/participants:
Exchanged contact information for community building projects currently in development.
What we will do following this conference, individually and collectively, to keep our work going:
Keeping our core values in mind, helping to spread those values to our community.
Creative thinking and new ideas that have emerged:
Creating sustainable communities, including agriculture and education within the community. Valuing community responsibility and implementation of core values within the community for no financial gain.
